Was my entire life fake?
by BonaFide inso i start thinking about all my "privileges.
" i went to mts, took 600 pages of notes, went to my assignment, i am still serving under the mts program.
for a few years until my circumstances changed.

what was the one sound bite or comment that helped you see the light?
by siy inthis was a few years ago now, i was on the work one day with an elders elder.. you now the type!.
& he said this to me me (now i would love to know if you heard this one if its from a wt mag).
"how you are viewed by others (& so treated) is a reflection of how god views you".

Well, even though I've always "followed party lines", as it were, even as a kid I never really felt like I had faith. When someone would express their love for Jehovah, or otherwise talk about how much they enjoyed this or that WTS publication or event, it always rang hollow to me and I did not understand it. I wondered at what point I would start enjoying meetings and conventions like everyone else said they did.
Several years ago, during a book study with one of the publications heavy on prophesy (maybe the first Daniel book), I was having a hard time believing this stuff and I thought it really sounded contrived, and I had a revelation of my own. I thought to myself - " Wow...this is a really effective system of control they've got." -

Thanks for the DC tips
by Turkey Sandwich ini've lurked awhile and posted a few times, this place is definitely a site i plan to continue visiting.
i just wanted to say thanks for your good tips regarding the district convention, i never thought of spiking my drinks with good 'ol reliable vodka.
as far as i know, no one suspected me, but for some reason each day the drinks got stronger... i think that i certainly gained a new level of appreciation for the drama.

You will never overcome your Witness past...
by JimmyPage in... unless you read apostate views.. you may become inactive, like i did, and find a way to assimilate yourself into the normal world.. but you will always have at your core a view of the world that the witnesses gave you.
their basic teachings will still be your world view.. you will never realize you were indoctrinated by a cult.. for those poisoned by jehovah's witnesses there is only one antidote.. there is only one way to understand your life and progress from there.. the only true cure for jehovah's witnesses is apostasy..

I recall a CO, a tall gangly and frankly scary looking old man whose opening talk on his first visit was about brothers who died giving a talk, and he knew A LOT of them. The stories just kept going and going. He was my favorite CO, and no one else seemed to like him at all. I think it was at that point, when I realized no one else could appreciate his dark humor, that I knew I wasn't like the other sheep. Whatever happened to you, Bro. Felcher?
